Next Steps

When you have completed your psychotherapy process with me you will have become your own ‘therapist’. This enduring ability will help maintain your mental wellness in all emotional aspects of your life, for the rest of your life.

How would we proceed?

To make an initial appointment with me you don’t need a referral from your GP or other health professional. You can contact me directly via the routes below using email or phone. When we speak I might ask you a little about why you are seeking a psychotherapist if this isn’t already apparent and, if appropriate, we will arrange a suitable time for us to meet. I work Monday to Friday and have morning, afternoon and evening sessions available. Usually I use the first three sessions or so to get a sense of what you are needing or looking for and whether we both want to work together – whether we are a good fit.

The length of time people attend therapy and the frequency (more than once a week) depends on your particular situation. Sometimes people have something quite specific that takes a few sessions, while others have something that requires more time to resolve.

The length of time depends on what you want to do and you can decide this from the beginning or as we go along. These aspects will be discussed during the first few sessions.

Fees

My fee for individual, couple or family therapy sessions can be discussed when you make contact or at our first meeting.

It is possible to get partial funding for my services through WINZ if you are a beneficiary.

Sessions times and frequency of meetings will be negotiated when you make contact or at the first appointment. I try to find a time that suits us both depending on my availability. Once agreed to we mutually commit to this day and time. If you or I need to change this then we will take our time to re-negotiate another day/time.

Cancellation Policy

If for any reason you need to cancel an appointment I charge your full fee within 48 hours of the cancelled appointment, outside of this time I charge a half fee.

‘No shows’ will be charged the full fee.

If you are going on break/holiday I charge a half fee to hold your appointment time while you are away. If you would rather let your appointment time go then we can do so and agree to find a time on your return.

My Holidays/Breaks

I generally take a week or two off during the school holidays throughout the year and then 4/5 weeks during the Christmas/summer period. I will try to ensure I give you at least a months notice of any breaks I plan to take during the course of our work.

I am happy to discuss any of my terms of engagement at any time in order to make our ongoing work satisfactory to us both.

It is important to add that every step of your psychotherapy process is negotiated between you and I. This is so that you have a sense of being fully involved with the help you are getting and that we are both equally invested in finding out what it is that you are needing.

I look forward to speaking with you to discuss what has been on your mind.
